NoiseGauge uses your iPhone's built-in microphone to estimate ambient sound levels. No external hardware is required. Basic measurements are unlimited, work offline, and include a complete result when you stop. The default +100 dB offset works well for most iPhone models. You can fine-tune the offset against a trusted reference meter if closer comparison matters. IMPORTANT NOTE Smartphone microphones are not laboratory-grade instruments. NoiseGauge provides estimates suitable for general awareness, not regulatory or medical decisions. For compliance measurements, use a certified Type 1 or Type 2 sound level meter. PRIVACY Microphone audio is analyzed in real time and never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
