Description

Weldweft is the notebook we wished we had on the cart: one card per setup, with the machine, the process, the joint, the wire or rod, the gas mix and the exact settings that made it run right. The next time that 3/16 angle job comes back, you pull the card, set 19.5 volts and 320 ipm, open the C25 to 25 CFH, and you are back where you left off. Every setup card holds the numbers that matter: volts, amps, wire speed, travel speed, polarity, preheat and interpass limits, plus the filler class and diameter and which bottle was on the machine. As you type, the heat input works itself out in kJ/in and kJ/mm, with the arc-efficiency factor for MIG, TIG, stick or flux-core applied so you can see the effective figure too. Wire processes also get a deposition estimate and a rule-of-thumb amperage check from the wire speed and diameter. We built the coupon gallery so the evidence lives next to the settings. Log each test piece with a photo from your library, mark it pass, fail or rework, tick the defects you saw, note the bead width and penetration, and write down the one thing you changed from the card. Each ledger row shows a dot per coupon, so a setup with two red dots and one green one tells its own story before you open it. Compare lines up any two setups side by side and highlights only what differs, with each delta spelled out in volts, amps, wire speed and gas flow, and the heat input that moved with them. Swipe right on any card to duplicate it as the starting point for the next job. Your machines get their own screen with rated output, duty cycle and the processes each one runs, so a card can say which box it was dialled in on. When the instructor or the shop lead wants the numbers, the whole ledger exports as a CSV through the share sheet with the heat input already worked out. Everything you record stays inside the app on your phone or iPad. It is a record of what you did and what you saw, not a procedure; use it alongside the WPS, the machine manual and your own judgment.
