Hush Secret Text: Encryption

Encrypt text and files on your device using a shared secret. Hush requires no account and provides no message server. Share the encrypted result through an app or destination you choose. NEW IN 4.0 Search your Message Ledger by label or stored message text and filter encrypted or plaintext entries. Export an encrypted ledger backup through Files, then import it with a preview and confirmation before replacing your saved messages. The backup uses your chosen secret; Hush cannot recover a forgotten secret. Saved messages and templates are no longer silently removed when their libraries reach capacity. Unreadable originals are preserved instead of overwritten. Template recovery can preserve the original and start a new library, with an unencrypted recovery-data export for troubleshooting. TEXT AND FILE TOOLS Encrypt and decrypt secret text, save reusable plaintext templates, manage named device-only Keychain secrets, create QR codes for supported message sizes, verify shared secrets, and use dual-message packages. Optional app locking uses device authentication. Clipboard copies can expire after your selected delay and stay local to this device. Sealed Bundles protects several files in one authenticated encrypted package. Open Sealed Bundles, select files and enter a strong secret. Reopen and authenticate the whole bundle before preparing recovered files for sharing. Bundles are not ZIP archives. Single-file encryption and decryption are also available. WHAT TO KNOW Decrypted ledger entries and templates are stored locally as plaintext. Ledger backups encrypt the exported file, not the local library. Backups contain ledger entries only, not Keychain secrets, templates or file bundles. Restore replaces the entire ledger and preserves the previous local value. Limits: 50 ledger entries, 100 KB per entry and 1 MB per backup; 30 templates. Single-file and photo imports support up to 100 MB. Bundles support 1–12 files totaling up to 20 MB of original data. New HUSH2 text and HUSHF2 file packages use AES-256-GCM and PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 with 600,000 iterations; older supported formats remain readable. Recipient expiry and burn-after-reading instructions rely on compatible Hush behavior. They cannot prevent screenshots, copied text, exported packages or device-clock changes. Clipboard expiration cannot remove text already pasted elsewhere. Recovered file exports are ordinary independent files; clearing a workspace is not guaranteed secure erasure and does not remove shared copies. iPhone and iPad. No subscription or account required.
