Description

Know your route. Understand your effort. See your progress. Trail IQ is a GPS workout tracker for running, walking and cycling that helps you learn from your own history. Know what's ahead, manage your effort as you go, and see where your performance changed. Keeping it easy? Building endurance? Chasing a quicker time? Your fastest workout is not always the right reference for today. KNOW WHAT'S COMING Preview the climbs and meaningful sections ahead. With enough comparable history and a selected goal, Today's Strategy suggests how to start, where to protect your effort, and when to hold steady or build. See an expected finish-time range and the earlier workouts behind the advice. Terrain and available weather add context. GET GUIDANCE, NOT DISTRACTIONS Choose quiet tracking, distinct tones or short spoken coaching. Hear useful route and effort cues while your phone is locked, alongside music or podcasts. Personal guidance adapts to your progress and supported heart-rate readings, without repeating every observation. Follow distance and ascent remaining, an elevation profile, and supported off-route and rejoin guidance. Optional automatic finish saves your workout at the route end and confirms completion. CHOOSE YOUR COMPARISON An optional live Ghost shows where a reference effort would be now. Follow your fastest, latest, typical or best-executed recorded effort, or pick one yourself. Today's Strategy provides a clearly labelled Generated alternative. Choices appear when your history supports them. REPEAT THE ROUTE. UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE. Comparison rings put today's key numbers beside an earlier effort. See where you gained or lost time, how you paced the halves, and how heart rate, cadence and terrain relate to the result. Explore focused reports for Route Story, Pace or Speed & Splits, Effort & Heart Rate, and Terrain & Conditions. A short Coach Review brings the useful lessons together. TRAIN YOUR WAY Start an open workout or choose a quick session template. Build reusable sessions with warm-up, work, recovery, repeats and cool-down. Set time, distance or manual steps with supported heart-rate, pace, speed or power targets. Reorder blocks and follow current and next-step guidance. Prefer simplicity? Hide the Session selector. SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE Fitness snapshots compare your aerobic fitness estimate and workout HRV with recent averages. Follow training trends and an explained Training Load view. Optional Apple Health recovery context compares resting heart rate, HRV and sleep with your own recent history. CONNECT THE DATA YOU USE - GPS route, distance, pace or speed, elevation, estimated calories and splits - Compatible Bluetooth heart-rate monitors, zones and resting heart-rate tests - Workout HRV with supported beat-to-beat readings - Running cadence and steps from supported iPhones with Motion access - Compatible Bluetooth cycling speed, cadence and power sensors - Recorded Apple Weather conditions when available - Optional Apple Health import and export - GPX, TCX, FIT and supported Adidas Running imports, with duplicate checks - GPX and TCX workout export, plus local backup and restore Missing metrics stay hidden. Personal strategies need enough same-activity route history and a selected goal; live effort advice needs fresh heart-rate data. Cycling wheel distance requires calibration, and power zones require your FTP. YOUR HISTORY. ON YOUR DEVICE. Trail IQ processes your workout history on device. No Trail IQ account, third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. Try five completed workouts. Continue with Full Access, a one-time in-app purchase for unlimited workout recording. No subscription. Fitness and wellness guidance, not medical advice. What's New

Version 1.2.0 2026-10-17
A major update since 1.0.2: your route history now helps you plan today's effort, follow it as you move, and understand the result. PERSONAL ROUTE STRATEGIES -...A major update since 1.0.2: your route history now helps you plan today's effort, follow it as you move, and understand the result. PERSONAL ROUTE STRATEGIES - Today's Strategy combines your goal and comparable route history into an opening approach, sections to Protect, Hold or Push, and a practical definition of success. - Expected finish-time ranges update with supported live progress and effort, rather than promising an exact time. - Climbs, descents and available weather inform the context. Advice explains its supporting history and stays hidden when evidence is insufficient. SMARTER GHOSTS AND COACHING - Choose Fastest, Latest, Typical, Best Executed or a specific recorded effort when eligible. Today's Strategy offers a clearly labelled Generated reference. - Deeper Route Memory can recognise multiple recurring slowdowns, strengths and effort patterns, using more natural route sections. - Richer pre-workout lookahead, live section context and a post-workout Route Debrief connect what was coming with what happened. - Short spoken strategy cues prioritise effort corrections, limit repetition and stay conservative when route or sensor data becomes unreliable. STRUCTURED SESSIONS - Choose quick templates or save your own warm-up, work, recovery, repeat and cool-down blocks. - Edit, duplicate, delete and drag blocks to reorder them. Set time, distance or manual steps and supported HR, pace, speed or power targets. - Follow the current step, repeat count, remaining target and next step, with audio, haptics and Live Activity updates. Pause freezes step progress; skip advances one step. - Route context can highlight upcoming terrain without changing your planned session. Hide the Session selector if you prefer a simpler start. RUNNING AND CYCLING DATA - Capture running cadence and active steps through iPhone Motion on supported devices, with an optional live Run Cadence tile. - Review cadence charts, split-level values and same-route comparisons when recorded samples support them. - Connect compatible Bluetooth cycling speed, cadence and power sensors alongside your HR monitor. Sensor-aware live tiles appear when supported. - Review measured cycling cadence, speed and power, with power-zone breakdowns when FTP is configured. Calibrated wheel distance can provide a fallback when GPS distance is unavailable. CLEARER RESULTS AND TRENDS - Retain the full set of available key numbers, with concentric current-versus-previous comparison rings. - Focused report groups reduce repetition while keeping Data Details and route actions accessible. - Highlight your selected heart-rate effort range and compare cadence with the chosen route baseline. - Improved trend-chart spacing, comparison labels and coaching wording. Faster sections use warmer/red colours; slower sections use cooler/blue colours. - Time Comparison appears before section changes in Route Story, with all captured comparison sections available. - Effort-guidance colours now agree between the live workout screen and Lock Screen. - Training Load explains recent workload against your own baseline. Optional Apple Health recovery context compares fresh resting HR, HRV and sleep with your recent history, without a readiness score. ROUTE GUIDANCE AND EXPORT - Follow remaining distance and ascent, an elevation profile with current position, meaningful bends, off-route distance and rejoin direction when supported. - Export completed workouts as GPX or TCX through the iOS share sheet, retaining route and supported sensor data. - Improved safeguards around pause/resume, stale readings, sensor reconnection and competing audio cues. Your data remains local-first. Personal insights and sensor metrics appear only when the available evidence supports them.
