FareShift: Bus Driver

FareShift is a bus driver game about the everyday chaos of Istanbul's shared minibus, the dolmuş. Pick up whoever waves from the curb, hand back change for fares passed forward from the back seats, and pull in without knocking anyone over. One thumb, portrait mode, a few minutes a trip. "Pass this to the driver?" Lift your thumb off the gas and the dolmuş starts to coast. You're driving and doing math at the same time: "200 from two students, what's the change?" That little tension is the whole game. BUS DRIVING THAT FEELS GOOD • GAS on the right, BRAKE on the left; both get stronger the longer you hold. Left-handed mode included. • Brake too hard and standing riders fall over. • Let go of the gas in the right lane and the minibus pulls in by itself. • Swipe to change lanes and pass parked cars. • Red lights, honking taxis, road works, ambulances and cats crossing the street. MAKING CHANGE • The fare travels forward from rider to rider; the change goes back the same way. • Full fares, students, pairs, "keep the change"… • Someone in the chain fell asleep? Tap them awake. • Short change gets a complaint; too much comes out of your till. RIDERS WHO TALK • Gossip, phone calls, comments for the driver. • Don't miss the one shouting "Next stop, please!" • Nine regulars tell their story a little more each ride, and they remember you.
