Root is a private-by-default workspace for working text: thoughts, links, meeting notes, tasks, snippets, and useful details that need somewhere to land before they disappear. The core iPhone app works for free. No Root account or Root Connect purchase is required to create, edit, search, organize, export, or keep using your local workspace. CAPTURE IN THE MOMENT • Type a new note or send a quick thought to Inbox. • Use Voice Transcribe for hands-free capture, then review before appending. • Record a Meeting with live transcription, Pause and Resume, and a deliberate Finish step that preserves the final words. • Use Smart Scan to capture useful QR details or text from a photo. • Send links and text from Safari and other apps through the iOS share sheet. SMART SCAN: QR DETAILS AND PHOTO TEXT Point Root's camera at a supported QR code to recognize a web link, plain text, contact details, email details, calendar event, location, phone number, text message, or GS1 Digital Link. Review and edit the result before opening, copying, sharing, or saving it. The same camera can capture printed text from a photo, and new Photo Transcribe notes are tagged automatically. Root deliberately does not display or save Wi-Fi passwords, authentication secrets, payment requests, or commands intended for another app. It gives you guidance to continue with iPhone Camera or the appropriate app. KEEP WORK MOVING • See the total number of items waiting in Inbox. • See unfinished checkbox items together in Open Tasks. • Find working text with search, tags, and pinned notes. Expand a tag on Home to browse its notes, with compact previews below their titles. • Add a new tag at the top of the Tags picker, or choose from existing tags. • Open library controls through Library source, and Root Connect or advanced options through Settings. • Keep reusable language and prompts in Snippets. • Archive finished material or move unwanted items to Trash. • Export your portable Root library. • Build a focused Context Handoff packet when you need to continue in another app or with an assistant. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Your working text starts on your iPhone. Copying, sharing, and exporting happen when you choose them. ROOT CONNECT IS OPTIONAL Root Connect is a one-time in-app purchase for people who want to sync supported Root apps through their own Google Drive.
