Matrix Analysis computes exactly. Most calculators work in floating point, so the determinant of a whole-number matrix comes back as 23.000000000000004 and an inverse arrives full of rounding noise. This one uses exact fraction arithmetic throughout. Integer matrices give integer answers. Inverses come back as fractions like -3/7, not 0.428571... Its roots are found numerically, then each one is offered a nearby exact value — so an integer matrix with integer eigenvalues gives exact answers and clean whole-number eigenvectors, while irrational and complex eigenvalues are shown as decimals and clearly marked approximate. You always know which you are looking at. Algebraic and geometric multiplicities are reported, and defective matrices are flagged as such.
