Description
Shadow Cast Stage is a spatial puzzle built around the most counterintuitive fact about shadows: the same shadow can be cast by infinitely many different arrangements. A target shape glows in gold at the edge of the stage. The player places objects — spheres, cylinders, cubes, cones — and drags the light source around a luminous ring to any angle. The live shadow updates in real time as both objects and light move. At 90% match, a lock button appears. At 100%, the stage floods with warm light. Knowing that a sphere always casts a perfect circle regardless of light angle is the first piece of spatial knowledge the game gives. The second: a cylinder casts a circle from directly above, a rectangle from the side, and an ellipse at every angle in between. The third: a cube from directly above casts a square, but from the body diagonal it casts a regular hexagon — one of the most surprising facts in all of elementary geometry. These are not tricks. They are the exact projections used in engineering drawings, medical imaging, and computer graphics. Some target shadows look impossible. A crescent cannot come from a single object. A star shadow cannot come from any convex object. A circle with a hole in it cannot come from any filled object. These levels — marked with a flash symbol — require multiple objects placed so their combined silhouette produces the impossible shape. The player who solves a crescent puzzle with two spheres has understood 3D projection well enough to reconstruct the logic from first principles. Three difficulty tiers. Shape: single light, opaque objects, match the silhouette. Colour: glass panels tint the light that passes through them, and overlapping coloured shadows add their colours — red shadow plus blue shadow makes magenta. Understanding that coloured shadows add rather than subtract is the revelation that explains how cinema lighting, stage design, and LCD screens actually work. Dual shadow: two light sources, two targets, one arrangement that must satisfy both projections simultaneously. The Shadow Gallery opens after the main levels — a free creative mode where the player arranges any objects under any light to create the most interesting shadow composition they can. Only the shadow is shared. Other players see the shadow and guess what produced it. The same shadow, always, can come from more than one place.
