Bopo: Zhuyin Reader

Bopo adds Zhuyin (注音, also called Bopomofo) beside Traditional Chinese text in Safari on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Zhuyin shows how a word is pronounced. It appears down the right of each character with its tone mark, as in books for young readers in Taiwan. Select a word to see a short definition, then save it with the sentence you found it in. Your words wait in the Bopo app, ready to review or export to Anki with Bopo Plus. Read in Safari Turn on the Bopo extension and read news, blogs, and social feeds with Zhuyin. Bopo adds it as you scroll, and you can turn it off for individual sites. If you prefer Zhuyin above the text, choose that instead. Taiwanese readings Bopo uses Taiwanese Mandarin readings, with corrections based on Taiwan's Ministry of Education dictionary. It looks up whole words to distinguish readings in words such as 銀行 and 長大. Words with their sentences Each saved word keeps its sentence, the page it came from, and the date. Save it again from another page and the new sentence joins the old ones. Sort your words into Learning and Known as you go. Review in context Review a word in the sentence where you found it, with the word left blank. Reveal the answer to see its Zhuyin and meaning. Bopo doesn't schedule reviews or count streaks. For spaced repetition, export your words to Anki. Bopo Plus Bopo is free to download.
