Magnetic cases, chargers, nearby metal, and calibration can affect readings. EMF Detector measures magnetic fields, not electric fields or radio-frequency radiation. It is not a calibrated safety instrument, wiring-fault detector, or paranormal detector. The hum represents field strength; it does not measure the field's physical frequency.
