Description
Most radio apps hand you sixty thousand stations and a search bar. dotstream hands you a few good ones. Pick a band (Jazz, Ambient, Electronic, Indie, and more) and you get a small set of hand-picked live stations from around the world. Tap a preset. When you've had enough, tap another. That's the whole app. No personalization. No endless scroll. No feed deciding what you hear next. Just live radio, made by people, playing right now in a city that isn't yours. Tune in, don't browse. A handful of presets per band, not a catalogue to dig through. The curation is the point: the first few seconds of a band should feel like arriving somewhere. Switching is the gesture. Punch between stations by hand, the way you'd hit the preset buttons in a car when an ad comes on. A short burst of static, a moment of retuning, and you're somewhere new. Built to be looked at once. A dot-matrix display shows the station, where it's broadcasting, and its local time. Nothing else. The static is the loading screen. The whole thing fits on one face. A little foreign, on purpose. Hear breakfast radio in Tokyo at midnight, or a Vienna indie station on your morning commute. Not translated, not tailored — just live, and slightly elsewhere. Save your favourites to the MY band. Hit RANDOM to let it throw you anywhere. Then put your phone down and listen. dotstream is small on purpose.
