pneuRIP

This app enables users to connect to their pneuRIP device to perform real-time monitoring of their breathing during various health and fitness applications such as yoga, meditation, and exercise. pneuRIP is a small BLE-enabled respiratory monitor that monitors breathing via light-weight plethysmography bands. The breathing data is transmitted wireless over Bluetooth Low Energy to a user’s smart phone. The software continually scans for available devices within 100 feet. Once a device is detected and selected, the user has access to graphs and data updated in real time. The application also allows the user to modify the device name, set a location name, store user data, and e-mail the data in the form of EDF+, CSV, and SQLite as an attachment. Signal processing to compute these parameters uses a combination of data windowing, finite impulse response filtering (FIR), and fast Fourier transforms (FFT). Judicious use of FFT and weighted averaging also improves the signal-to-noise ratio. Disclaimer: pneuRIP does not provide medical advice.
