Grainline: Spreadsheets

Grainline is a spreadsheet that knows which of your numbers are certain. Every value can be an Estimate, In Review or Firm. Formulas take on the weakest state of what they use, so a total built on guesses looks like one. Select a result and Grainline tells you what it rests on: "Rests on 2 estimates: Venue, Catering". A meter on each sheet shows how much of it is firm, and a tap walks you through what's left to confirm. FIRM MEANS FIRM Firm values can't be typed over, pasted on or cleared by accident. You can still move, sort and format them. Unlock one when it really needs to change. A REAL SPREADSHEET • Formulas with the functions you use: SUM, AVERAGE, IF, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, TEXTJOIN, PMT, ROUND, TODAY and many more • Number formats, including your own custom codes; bold, italic, underline and color, down to part of a cell's text; alignment, wrapping and row heights • Insert and delete rows and columns, fill series, sort and find and replace • Merge cells, hide rows, columns and sheets, and group rows and columns into sections you can collapse • Sort by several columns, filter, named ranges, data validation and conditional formatting • Several sheets per workbook • Bar, line and pie charts • Full undo and redo CHECKS Write down the rules your numbers must follow, such as "the total equals the sum of the items", and Grainline keeps testing them as you work. A badge on the sheet shows when every check passes and turns the moment one fails. While you type, Grainline also points out a formula that breaks the pattern of its neighbors and a value far out of line with the rest. OPENS YOUR FILES Open, edit and save .xlsx, .ods, .csv and .tsv files in their own format, or save them as another with Save As. Legacy .xls files open read-only: save a copy as .xlsx or as a Grainline workbook to edit it. If something in a file can't be written back, Grainline tells you before it's lost. When a .csv file is ambiguous, Review shows a preview so you can set its delimiter and decimal mark right. Export to PDF or print, or export to .csv with the delimiter and encoding you choose. SHORTCUTS AND SPOTLIGHT Actions for the Shortcuts app and Siri: open or create a spreadsheet, add a row, read a cell or a named range, list what's still an estimate, run the checks, add, rename or delete sheets, and export to PDF or CSV. Your spreadsheets show up in Spotlight with their sheet names and text. YOURS, ON EVERY DEVICE Documents live in Files and iCloud Drive, like any other file.
