Bird Chatter

Hear a bird? Find out what it is, and earn points for it. Bird Chatter identifies birds by their songs and calls, right on your phone. Tap Start Listening, and every species you find earns points, builds your life list, and moves you up the leaderboards in your county, state, country and the world. IDENTIFY BIRDS BY SOUND It knows nearly 10,000 bird species and runs entirely on your phone. It uses your location and the time of year to rule out birds that aren't likely near you. Keep listening with the screen locked, then review what it heard: replay the best 3 seconds of each bird, Confirm it, or mark it "Not it." EARN POINTS FOR EVERY BIRD Every species scores. First-ever finds (lifers) are worth the most, and your first find of a species in a new county, state or country earns a bonus. The bigger the haul, the bigger the celebration. GOALS, STREAKS AND WEEKLY CHALLENGES Keep a daily streak going, take on a new challenge every week, and unlock milestones as your list grows. Optional reminders let you know when the dawn chorus starts and when your streak is at risk. COMPETE WITH YOUR COMMUNITY AND FRIENDS See how you rank in your county, state, country and the world, for this year or all time. Yearly boards reset every January, so everyone gets a fresh shot at #1. Add friends with a short code and race on your own private leaderboard. YOUR LIFE LIST, YOUR WAY Every species you find is saved with the date and place. See your life list or this year's birds, zoom from the world down to a single county, and search any species. Species names in 11 languages. BADGES Reach the Top 10 in your county, state, country or the world and earn badges for species found and sessions logged. KEEP AND SHARE YOUR RECORDINGS Save or share any bird's clip, for example as evidence for a rare bird on your eBird checklist. Turn on "Keep full recordings" to save whole sessions to the Files app. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Bird identification happens on your phone, and your audio never leaves it. Only your species list, points and county are shared for the leaderboards. Try it as a guest with no account, and sign in later to keep your points and join the rankings.
