FSC Test 2026: CA Gun Safety

You can't buy a gun in California until you pass the Firearm Safety Certificate test. There is no state testing office. A DOJ Certified Instructor gives the test at a licensed firearms dealer, usually the gun store you plan to buy from. It is 30 questions, you need 23 right to pass, and the certificate is good for five years, so renewing means taking the test again.
