Description
Downface counts your push-ups using your phone's TrueDepth camera – no wristband, no tap-to-count button, no account. Just place your phone face-up on the floor, get into position, and start. Every time your head dips toward the screen and comes back up, that's a rep, tracked live and counted automatically. HOW IT WORKS The TrueDepth camera locks onto your face and measures how close you get to the screen on every frame. It doesn't know it's counting push-ups – it just watches the distance go down, then up, past two thresholds, filtering out noise so half-reps and jitter don't get counted. The threshold even calibrates itself to your own range of motion over your first few reps, so it stays accurate whether you go all the way down or keep a shorter range. FATIGUE, NOT JUST A NUMBER Downface compares your rolling pace against how you started the set. Slow down consistently and a quiet message appears near the counter, staying until the set ends – never a false alarm from one slow rep, never distracting. SEE EVERY REP, EVERY DAY An activity heatmap shows your consistency at a glance. Tap any day for the full breakdown: sets, reps per set, rest between them. A weekly progress chart shows real trends, not just totals – tap any week to compare it against the one before. Personal records for your best single set and best single day get their own moment when you beat them. 100% PRIVATE, BY DESIGN Downface has no server, no account, and no analytics. Your workout history stays on your phone in a local database. Turn on iCloud backup and an encrypted copy syncs to your own iCloud account, so a new phone restores your full history automatically – Downface itself never sees that data. Export a backup file yourself any time; it's encrypted and only Downface can read it back. WORKS WITH APPLE HEALTH Turn on Health sync and every finished workout is written to Health automatically, right alongside your other activity. Downface never reads anything back – it only writes. HOME SCREEN WIDGET A small and medium widget mirrors your activity grid right on your home screen, so your streak is visible without opening the app. BUILT FOR IPHONE TrueDepth means iPhone X or later. Downface is built entirely around face tracking – there's no fallback tap-to-count mode, because the face tracking is the whole point. Downface's source code is open under the MIT license. Read it, audit it, or build your own version – the GitHub link is in the app's settings.
