Description
Step back in time and in front of the classic DEC VT100 computer terminal that helped shape computing history. Boot up your own private copy of 2.11BSD (circa 1991) running on an emulated PDP-11/70, and interact with it straight from your VT100. Connect to remote hosts such as public access unix systems or bulletin board systems (BBS) using SSH or Telnet. While not strictly true to the original in every sense, the simulator provides an authentic feeling way to interact with historic systems for learning and enjoyment. Computing seems to be coming full circle with many developers spending more and more time in a Shell. Much of what can be learned on vintage systems still apply today. Build to be private and secure. Caution: Telnet data is sent as plain text over the internet. Use on public or open networks is highly discouraged. Please use responsibly. Use of a physical keyboard is highly recommended for an optimum experience.
