WWI Bombs Away

WWI Bombs Away is a side-scrolling arcade shooter about one biplane, a fuel tank that never stops draining, two weapons with very different ballistics, and a mountain range that kills you if you stop paying attention. No upgrades to grind, no energy meters, no second chances bought with a tap. Just the run you are flying right now. **TWO WEAPONS, TWO PROBLEMS** The machine gun fires flat and fast — good for aircraft, observation balloons, and anything foolish enough to be at your altitude. Bombs arc, carrying your forward speed with them, so hitting a tank means leading it. Learning to bomb while dodging is the whole game. **THE TANK IS ALWAYS DRAINING** A full tank of fuel lasts about forty seconds. Fuel drums on the ground are the only way to top it up, and the only way to reach them is to shoot them. Red Cross tents and medical balloons patch the airframe. Run dry and the engine quits, the nose drops, and gravity finishes the sortie. **FIVE FRONTS, THEN IT STARTS AGAIN HARDER** Ground Defense — green hills, artillery, and observation balloons that bomb you from above. Armor Blitz — armour crawling toward you, shelling straight up, with zeppelins holding the top of the sky. Dogfight Skies — the ground goes quiet and the air fills with enemy biplanes over snow-capped peaks. Combined Arms — guns and armour together, over broken ground. Total Warfare — everything at once, over the highest mountains in the game. Clear all five and the campaign loops: faster scrolling, tighter spawns, meaner fire. The scoreboard reads STAGE 3-2 when you are on your second pass. **PLAY IT HOW YOU LIKE** • iPhone and iPad — a floating thumb stick that appears wherever your thumb lands, plus FIRE and BOMB • Mac — arrows or WASD, space to shoot, Ctrl or X to bomb • Apple TV — Siri Remote, or any gamepad • Xbox, PlayStation and MFi controllers on every platform, with rumble, and hot-plug mid-run Prompts follow whatever is in your hands, not the machine you are on. **DRAWN AND PLAYED IN CODE** Every sprite in this game is a grid of characters and a palette, rasterised at runtime — there is not a single image file in the app besides the title painting. The music and every explosion are generated live by a four-voice chiptune synthesiser: two pulse channels, a triangle bass and a noise channel, the same shape of hardware the arcade era actually had. **NO NONSENSE** No ads.
